Many Health Insurance Companies Cover Mental Health Services

At MindWell Urgent Care, we accept most commercial health insurance plans, as well as Medicare. If you are not covered by an insurance plan, our affordable pricing will help you receive the care you need. If you are out-of-network or do not have insurance, we are happy to provide you with a superbill that you can present to your insurance carrier for out-of-network reimbursement. This percentage varies by your insurance carrier, but typically is around 50-70% reimbursement from your insurance company. In addition to insurance payments, we’re glad to accept HSA/FSA.Insurance Logos 2025

MindWell Urgent Care Has You Covered

More and more people are opting for online therapy over in-person sessions. It’s no surprise why—this method is much more accessible and convenient for people across the country. The flexibility to connect with a therapist from the comfort of your home is perfect for folks with busy schedules and parents trying to balance childcare with their personal well-being. But as you consider talking to a professional, questions about insurance are bound to come up. Here’s what you need to know about our psychiatrists and how insurance coverage works.

Know the Specifics of Your Insurance Plan

While our online psychiatrist takes insurance, it pays to know exactly what your plan covers. While most providers offer some level of coverage for mental health services, each one is different. The first step is to check your policy documents online, and if you still have questions, contact your insurance provider directly. Look for terms like “telehealth” and “telemedicine” to determine if online therapy is fully or partially covered.

In-Network vs. Out-of-Network Providers

The single most important factor as you look for online psychiatrists that take insurance is whether they’re in-network or out-of-network. Get to know the difference between these common terms:

  • In-Network Providers—These are therapists and mental health professionals who have a contract with your insurance company. When you see an in-network provider, you generally pay a lower out-of-pocket cost, usually in the form of a copayment or coinsurance after you’ve met your deductible.
  • Out-of-Network Providers—If a therapist does not have a contract with your insurance company, they are considered out-of-network. You will likely have to pay the full cost of the session upfront. However, you might be able to get partial reimbursement from your insurer if your plan includes out-of-network benefits.

How to Find an Online Provider Who Takes Your Insurance

Finding a Provider who accepts your insurance can feel like a challenge, but many online platforms are making the process simpler. Follow these three easy steps to find psychiatrists who take your insurance:

  • Go to Your Provider’s Website—Most insurers have an online directory of in-network mental health providers. You may be able to filter this list to find therapists who offer online sessions.
  • Use Online Platforms—Today, there is no shortage of online therapy platforms that show you psychiatrists in your area. Many of these platforms also list which insurance providers they accept.

What If My Insurance Doesn’t Cover Online Therapy?

If you find that your insurance plan doesn’t cover online therapy, or if the out-of-pocket costs are too high, you still have options. Many people find ways to make therapy affordable without using insurance. Ask us about sliding scale fees or reduced rates if psychiatry services are currently out of your budget. We strive to make mental health care accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial background.
